Click on the Piano
to Hear Rhapsody in Blue
by George Gershwin
Arranged and performed
by Gary Lloyd
Just before Thanksgiving in 1998, we
invested in the Yamaha Disklavier piano you see pictured. It is the
modern version of a player piano, but the music is recorded on a floppy
disc instead of a paper roll. You can play the common midi files that
are easily downloaded from the web, purchase commercial
performances
from Yamaha and others, and record your own performances. Our ten-year-old daughter Erica has been taking piano lessons since
July 1999.
Some of her early performances are available for playback on
Erica's
page. For more
information about these pianos go to Yamaha's
piano web site. Our particular piano is the
Disklavier
GranTouch Digital Grand Piano DGT2IIXG.
There is a large community of
disklavier owners on the web and I founded a members-only web group for them
in November 1999. We use it as a common e-mail bulletin board and to
swap public domain music files. If
you would like to join our group and gain access to this elaborate site, just
enter your email in the box below and press the "Join Now!"
button. Within a few minutes you will receive a welcoming message and further
instructions in your mailbox.
Once you are a member you can access a wealth of music on the
group's web site.
Below you will find links to a few of
my favorite piano selections from the web and elsewhere. You can play them
through your computer's sound system by left clicking on the link, or
save a copy for yourself by right clicking and picking "Save target
as.." from the menu. If you're lucky enough to own a Disklavier,
save them to a floppy and just pop it into your piano. The files are
very small and download quickly.
If you enjoy both boogie-woogie music and Rimsky
Korsakov's classic Flight
of the Bumblebee then you'll just love the Bumble
Boogie, arranged by pianist Jack Fina, sequenced and performed by Jeanne
Coello of Bombay, India.
Here's some music
from Peanuts by the late Vince Guaraldi
as performed by Gary Lloyd
